September 2017 Meetup Preview
Summer is ending and school is starting soon! DC for Democracy will celebrate the new school year with a special presentation by our own Education Team at the next meetup on September 13. Please mark your calendars!
Who makes decisions about public education in DC, and what are our major education issues? How are these related to national education issues? What is OSSE, and how is it related to the school board, or the mayor? What’s the latest with the Washington Teachers Union, charter schools, and vouchers? If you care about public education- and who doesn’t?- be sure to attend the Education Team’s presentation on public education in DC at the September 13th meetup. See you there, and bring some pencils for the teachers!
Panelists: Eboni-Rose Thompson (Chair of the Ward 7 Education Council), Laura Fuchs (Washington Teachers Union, H.D. Woodson teacher), Mary Beth Tinker.
