June 2017 Meetup Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us on June 14 for our monthly meetup, and thank you to The Big Board for hosting! We had a fantastic panel discussion focusing on two of the most important criminal justice reform issues facing the District. Eugene Puryear from Stop Police Terror Project DC discussed NEAR Act implementation and the case for reformed policing, while Jeremy Mohler from In the Public Interest and Emily Tatro from the Council for Court Excellence outlined the ongoing process for constructing the new DC Jail, emphasizing the need to gather public input from impacted communities and the importance of using public funds over private financing for the project.

If you weren’t able to attend the meetup, you can still check out the FacebookLive stream of the event below!
