Welcome new Steering Committee members

We are incredibly proud to welcome two new members to DC for Democracy's Steering Committee. Veteran campaign staffer Vanessa Lopez joins as DC4D's first-ever Organizing Director. This is a new role created as part of our bylaws update in February, and as Organizing Director Vanessa will help lead DC4D's canvassing for endorsed candidates.

Kush Kharod is an organizing leader on the Green New Deal for Housing, rent control efforts, and immigrant justice work including the Local Residents Voting Rights Act and Street Vendors campaign. He joins the Steering Committee as an At-Large member who will advise our work and support priority campaigns. Welcome Vanessa and Kush!

As part of the leadership changes this week, our incredible, creative, and kinetic comrade Sam Bonar stepped back from his role as an At-Large member to prioritize other important work he is leading right now. Sam joined the Steering Committee in 2021 and remains a tireless champion for democratic participation in the District. Thank you Sam for your leadership over the past 2+ years, and we look forward to continuing to work together!
